[Relieved that wasn't asking what they were together, Daisy presses her lips together as she nods.]

Okay.

[She smiles tiredly, understanding what it was like to feel the need to rebrand herself.]

Offer still stands, James.

Thank you.

[And not just for the offer of the movie. For the first time since they met, he offers her a proper smile, the usual latent tension he carries around her dissipating. It means a lot that she understands, that she'll grant him this barrier of being other to the one she knew.]

[It’s been months since Daisy has seen Bucky genuinely smile, and it makes her stomach do a flip.

It’s hard for her to keep feeling disappointed when he smiles at her like that, and she knows better than to keep pushing.]

Yeah.

[His smile lifts even further for a second, approval and appreciation for her not pushing, before it fades away into his usual customary neutrality.]
